There are a few ways to tell if your baby needs to go up a size in diapers. In order for a diaper to work properly and to avoid leaks and blowouts, a diaper needs to fit nicely.

While examining your baby in his or her diaper, there are a few things to look out for. If you can see red marks around your child’s thigh or waist, that likely means the diaper is too small and you need the next size up.

If you notice less leaks and no more red marks, that means your baby is in the right size. However, if you observe big gaps where you originally saw red marks, that likely means the diaper size you moved up to is too big.

According to Seventh Generation, they recommend that if you think your baby is about to grow out of a diaper size, but you find the next size too big, to “let your baby gain another pound or two and then try again.”

Most diaper sizes range from newborn, which often cares for babies up to 10 pounds, all the way to size 6, which usually aid children who way more than 35 pounds.

Other moms I have noticed also enjoy Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers, Luvs Pro Level Leak Protection Diapers, and The Honest Company Diapers. From our research, for a box of 198 diapers, Pampers run about $46, Huggies are about $51, Luvs will cost the least.
